We carry a wide assortment of beautiful shade trees that are perfect for our climate. Shade trees are usually fast-growing deciduous trees such as Maples, Oaks, Sweetgum, Sycamore and Liriodendron to name just a few. In addition to a nice canopy for shade, these trees tend to have amazing fall color!
Shade trees planted on the West and East sides of your house can help conserve energy and reduce energy bills. Shading your Air Conditioner can help keep it cooler and run more efficiently.

Trees of All Kinds
We have trees of all kinds and would be happy to help you choose the right tree for the right place in your landscape. There are many things to consider when choosing a tree, will it be planted in the shade or do you need a shade tree to provide more shade? Do you want a tree with beautiful fall color or one that keeps its leaves all year long? What size and shape suits you best? Tall and narrow, wide and rounded, weeping or straight up, so many decisions.
For shady areas we have beautiful Japanese Maples in many different varieties, sizes, colors and forms. These elegant trees do well in both, containers and in the ground to add that special touch of interest to your garden. We also carry Dogwoods that are a wonderful understory tree to add color and interest. Pines and spruces also do well in part to full shade in our area and adds an evergreen element and texture to the landscape.
We have Tulip Magnolias, Southern Magnolias and ornamentals such as Flowering Cherries, Flowering Pears and lovely Flowering Plums with purple foliage. And do not forget the Crape Myrtles, Crab Apples, Redbuds and Weeping Willows!
Sun & Shade Loving Shrubs
Our sun-loving shrubs are arranged alphabetically by height beginning with groundcover types to make choosing your plants easier. We have many kinds of shrubs in all sizes, shapes and colors chosen specifically to thrive in our area.
Our shade-lovers are in the center of the nursery under a shaded structure, this is where you will find the Japanese Maples, dogwoods, snowball bushes, Azaleas, Hydrangeas, Camellias, and other plants that cannot tolerate full sun.
Wyntour Gardens has over ten acres of plant stock and we would love to show you the trees we carry and would be glad to help you decide on what tree may fit your landscape best, as well as give you information about planting and care of your trees to get them off to a great start for a long and healthy life!
